More sun does not mean more reality. The process of solarisation – the overexposure of a surface to light – is not a revelation, but a blinding. It is the point where illumination becomes annihilation. To choreograph solarisation is to treat the body as a sensitive surface. Each gesture becomes a chemical event: an oxidation, a dissolution, a stain. The conceptual framework draws on Bataille’s notion of the sun–a source of light that gives not illumination but disease, corruption and waste.
