PROGRAMME

Wrocław, 3–7 November 2026

For five days, Wrocław will become a meeting place for performance artists, researchers, and audiences from Central and Eastern Europe. The program includes performances, panel discussions, artist talks, film screenings, sound events, and an exhibition, showcasing both contemporary performance practices and the history of this art form.

📍 The performance program will take place in the Laboratorium Theater Hall at the Jerzy Grotowski Institute.

The programme will also include:

1) panel discussions;
2) a meeting with Jean-Hervé Perron (FAUST) and a discussion of Tony Conrad’s work;
3) a meeting with the Bergamot Group – Volha Maslouskaya and Raman Tratsiuk – accompanied by a film screening;
4) sound performance by Ai fen;
5) a poetry slam inspired by the work of Eileen Myles;
6) a meeting with Eileen Myles, a poetry reading and the launch of the first Polish edition of Myles’s poetry, published by the Culture and Art Centre in Wrocław. Moderator: Dr Małgorzata Myk of the Department of North American Literature and Culture at the University of Łódź;
7) an exhibition of archival video materials documenting the history of performance art in ten neighbouring countries of Central and Eastern Europe, to be held at the Entropia Gallery.

Festival Discussion Panels

The discussion programme will comprise four sessions, grouped by the curators according to geographical proximity:
1. Agnieszka Chodysz-Foryś, Jarosław Frett, Lucia Gregorova Stach, Daniel Muzyczuk, Jiří Surůvka, Igor Wójcik – PL, CZ, SK
2. Laine Kristberga, Yaryna Shumska – LV, UKR
3. Kata Balázs, Corina Cimpoieru – HU, RO
4. Pia Brezavšček, Iva Kovač – HR, SLO
5. The programme will culminate in a joint panel discussion on the final day of the Festival, with the participation of Amy Bryzgel. It will provide an opportunity to examine the shared spaces in which the histories of performance art in different countries intersect, as well as mutual influences and forms of collaboration.
Amy Bryzgel will also share her observations on the process of writing Performance Art in Eastern Europe Since 1960.

The sessions will explore the history and current state of performance art in the participating countries. The discussions will be accompanied by photographs and video footage.
