Pia Brezavšček is the editor-in-chief of Maska, a bilingual journal for contemporary performing arts based in Ljubljana. As a cultural worker, she performs several roles – of an editor, publicist, critic, theatrologist and dramaturge. She is a philosopher and art historian, as well as a doctoral candidate at the Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana. She was among the co-founders of the website www.neodvisni.art, which focuses on critical reflection on the local independent performing arts scene and which she edited between 2019 and 2022. From 2017 to 2020, she was president of the Society for Contemporary Dance of Slovenia. She teaches the course Dance, Politics, Sociology at the Dance Academy at Alma Mater Europaea. Her areas of interest also include feminism and contemporary philosophies of the body, on which she has published articles in various journals. As a dramaturge, she has participated in projects by Bara Kolenc, Magdalene Reiter and Snježana Premuš, and often collaborates with Saška Rakef.
