Igor Wójcik lives and works in Wrocław. He graduated from the Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Art and Design in Wrocław, receiving his MA in 1993. He is the creator of the artistic concepts of phenomenal art and intuitionist speculationism. He is a member of the artistic group Silesium. Between 1989 and 1994, he was a member of the artistic group Karuzela Bradkes, and from 1991 to 1994 of the paratheatrical group Gabinet Operacji Plastycznych i Odnowy Uczuć. From 1989 to 1995, he was a member of the rock/alternative group Poławiacze Pereł z Odry. Between 1989 and 1991, he co-curated Galeria Zero in Wrocław, and from 1993 to 1996 he worked as a curator at Galeria Foto-Medium-Art. From 1999 to 2005, he was the founder and artistic director of the Lower Silesian Art Festival. Between 2012 and 2015, he ran Galeria Sztuki Aktualnej in Wrocław’s Stare Jatki district. From 1997 to 2001, he lectured in visual communication at AFA in Wrocław. Since 2015, he has been Director of the Culture and Arts Centre in Wrocław. He has curated exhibitions and festivals in Poland and abroad and also works as an art critic and essayist. As an artist, he primarily works in painting, glass and photography. He has participated in more than 170 group exhibitions and 21 solo exhibitions, including at national museums in Bratislava, Poznań, Lviv and Batumi; Zachęta – National Gallery of Art in Warsaw; the City Museum of Wrocław; the Landesmuseum Braunschweig; the Von der Heydt Museum in Wuppertal; DOX Centre for Contemporary Art in Prague; and numerous galleries and cultural institutions in Poland and abroad. His works are held in museums and private collections in Poland, Germany, the Czech Republic, Ukraine, Italy, Switzerland, Belgium, Norway, Georgia, Canada and the United States.
