Monika Wachowicz is an actress, performer and educator. She graduated in philosophy from the University of Silesia. In 2021, she co-founded Studio WACHOWICZ/FRET with Jarosław Fret. She lectures at the Wrocław branch of the Stanisław Wyspiański Academy of Theatre Arts and curates projects at the Grotowski Institute in Wrocław, including Szczeliny. Kobiety w sztukach performatywnych and the Inter-University Performance Review (PPP).
Since 2004, she has been associated with Theatre A Part in Katowice, working as an actress with theatres and artists in Poland and abroad, including in Denmark, Germany and Scotland. She runs the Acting Studio at Theatre A Part and coordinates the International A Part Festival of Performing Arts. She has also collaborated with Theatre Biuro Podróży and director Nullo Facchini.
In 2023, she was nominated for the Klepsydra Award for Best Actress in the solo performance category at the Saint Muse International Theatre Festival in Ulaanbaatar. In 2024, together with Jarosław Fret, she received The Scotsman Fringe First Award for their performance/installation T H E B O R D E R / G R A N I C A at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, as well as a nomination for the Brighton Fringe Excellence Award.
Since 2019, she has served as President of the Marta Paradecka Art for Life Foundation. She runs the Studio of Body and Emotions in Katowice, where she creates and produces her own artistic projects.
