Jacek Zachodny was born in Wrocław in 1969. He is a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław and also studied archaeology at the University of Wrocław. His practice encompasses installations, objects, painting, video, performance, actions in public space and socially engaged art projects. He has also created video works for theatre productions, including Tęczowa trybuna by Monika Strzępka and Paweł Demirski.

His practice often explores memory, the past and the passage of time, with a particular focus on interpersonal and intercultural relationships. He develops some of his projects while travelling, mainly in Asia and, more recently, in Ukraine. He regularly contributes to the art magazine Rita Baum and is the author of the book Elektryka duszy.

Zachodny is a co-founder of Galeria ArtBrut in Wrocław, where he collaborates with artists with intellectual and physical disabilities. His works are held in public collections, including those of the Lower Silesian Society for the Encouragement of Fine Arts and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Kraków (MOCAK).

He has participated in exhibitions in Poland and abroad, including at BWA Wrocław, Galeria Entropia, 66P, Bunkier Sztuki, MOCAK, Galeria Potocka and Zachęta – National Gallery of Art in Warsaw. His work has also been presented at the WRO Media Art Biennale in Wrocław.
