Iva Kovač is an independent curator and researcher in the field of visual arts and culture and an active member of the artist collective Fokus Grupa (since 2012). She has led and programmed the PM and Prsten galleries in Zagreb (2010–2012), SIZ Gallery in Rijeka (2013–2015) and the artistic organisation GSG in Rijeka (2017–2020), where she initiated and edited GSG – Magazine for Contemporary Art and Social Issues. She also served as artistic director of the City of Women association and festival in Ljubljana (2021–2025). Her research and curatorial work engages with feminist and decolonial approaches to exhibition practices, with a focus on Eastern Europe, as well as with the archive in an expanded sense. She has (co)authored a series of thematic and solo exhibitions, notably The South in Us (City of Women), Archaeology of Resistance (City of Women and Podroom Gallery, Belgrade), Looking A—Way (tranzit.sk, Bratislava), and Archival Chain Reactions with Bettina Knaup and Mónica Mayer (+MSUM, Ljubljana), as well as the discursive programmes Connecting Lines with Alberto Berzosa, Ewa Chomicka, and Eliza Proszczuk (City of Women) and Sugar Everywhere as Fokus Grupa (Drugo more, Rijeka).
