Marek “Rogulus” Rogulski is a multimedia artist, sculptor, painter, performer and art theorist. Born in 1967 in Gdańsk, he studied at the Faculty of Painting and Graphics of the State Higher School of Fine Arts from 1985 to 1990. His first documented action in public space took place in 1983. Three years later, he became a member of the music group Terra Nostra, and in 1989 he joined the art group Pampers Maxi; in the following years, he was active in the collectives Ziemia Mindel Wurm, Tysiąc Najjaśniejszych Słońc and OBPW, as well as in numerous music groups.
From 1990 to 1992, he was vice-president of the Association of Social Initiative Club – Gallery C 14; at that time, he collaborated with the art group Totart and Galeria Wyspa. Since 1992, he has been running the Tysiąc Najjaśniejszych Słońc Foundation, which has operated various art venues and galleries, including Auto Da Fe, Spichrz 7, Spiż 7, ICS and MuesseuM. From 1992 to 1994, he was vice-president of the Otwarte Atelier Foundation, which operated in the former municipal bathhouse in Gdańsk. Since 2017, he has been running the Institute for Cybernetics of Art and MuesseuM in Osowa, Gdańsk (“Great ArtHadron Collider”). He has developed a number of concepts that he applies to contemporary art: “Beyond Postmodernism”, “Steerage”, “New Totality” and “Epihumanism”. He currently works as an assistant professor at the Academy of Humanities and Economics in Łódź.
